Although my ebook is about hair regrowth, I get a lot of other
questions about hair.

One of the most common subjects is gray hair, such as what
causes it and how to get the original hair color back, so I
want to address that issue today.

Your hair contains a chemical called melanin which
determines how dark your hair is. Eventually the level of
melanin starts dropping and your hair gets lighter. So gray
hair is actually "hair without color." This is the same
concept as the pigment in your skin which determines how
dark it is and makes it darker when you tan. Of course the
difference is that sun exposure will not help with the
melanin in your hair.

For some people the graying process starts as early as
their late 20s (think of comedian Steve Martin, who doesn't
look much older now than he did 30 years ago due to going
prematurely gray). For others this does not happen until
the 50s or even 60s.

So what to do about this, especially if you are turning
gray before your time?

One common thing people do is dye their hair, which works
well if done right. But it's easy to do it wrong and end up
with hair that is obviously dyed and looks unnatural
(especially if your eyebrows or other hair is already
gray). It's also messy, and if you aren't careful, the dye
will get on your skin and stain it.

An alternative to this is a product called "Youthair". It
comes in liquid or creme form. The way it works is that it
adds a pigment that combines with your hair to restore it
closer to the original color. This looks more natural since
your hair does not end up one solid color like jet black.
Some people prefer to leave a little gray so it looks more
natural than a dye job.

A reader writes:

I just found your site, and it maybe what I've been looking for.

I'm 25 and am losing my hair.

Naturally I've been considering Pr0pecia and R0gaine.

Last year I went to a free "consultation" at a local hair
transplant office.

The "consultant"/salesman made me feel worse than before I went in.

I didn't have the $8,500+ (still don't) lying around for a
transplant.

What's worse is that in the last 6 months sometimes when I scratch
my head I pull out a piece of hair with something on the end of it-
this has made me feel that all is lost- and VERY depressed about my
hair.

Also, I've been getting hair out of the side of my head that is
attached to the same kind of "thing".

This confuses me, because I thought traditional male pattern
baldness affects the crown and temple area only- especially young
with younger people.

Richard, can you provide any insight into this problem for me. I
don't know what to do- I'm overwhelmed with all the info out there
as well as possible solutions.

My reply:

From what it sounds like you're getting the full hair length
attached to the "hair bulb". That's not in itself bad news. It just
may take those particular hairs longer to grow back.

Don't be afraid to touch your head/hair. Treating your hair with
"kid gloves" is the exact opposite of what we show people to do in
our ebook.

This is just a guess because all I can go by is the information you
gave me in your email, but from all the experiences I've known,
you shouldn't worry about hair on the side of your head.

Again, the "thing" is the hair bulb.

Today I'm going to reveal a secret from the ebook "How To Naturally

Ron decided to do something about his problem. He found a hair
transplant surgeon with a good reputation and made an appointment.
After consulting with the doctor, Ron scheduled his operation.

First the doctor fixed Ron's bald spot. He cut out a strip of skin
from Ron's scalp, and took hairs from there to implant into the top
of Ron's head. It was quite a bloody affair. Ron was in the
surgeon's chair over 15 hours that day. He had to take two days off
